Three Bridges on the Firth of Forth
Stunning scenery in the Sma' Glen
Departing Edinburgh directly from your accommodation we will travel north via the Three Bridges on the Firth of Forth through the Kingdom of Fife and onward into Highland Perthshire. Known as "Big Tree Country" due to its 200,000 acres of woodland and enormous Douglas Firs, this stunning part of our country is home also to some incredible Scotch Whisky experiences.
Your first port of call is either Edradour (Monday - Friday) or Blair Atholl (Sat - Sun).
Edradour is Scotland's smallest and perhaps most picturesque distillery. Like stepping back in time, you will be enchanted by the location and will tour and taste with one of their local experts, seeing the process first hand and experiencing Edradour's own unique and highly traditional brand of whisky-making. Blair Atholl is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. Blair Athol’s ancient source of water is the Allt Dour – in Gaelic “the burn of the otter” – it flows through the grounds of the distillery from the slopes of Ben Vrackie in the foothills of the Grampian mountains. It is this constant supply of pure water which attracted John Stewart and Robert Robertson, who founded the distillery on the moorland south of Pitlochry in 1798.
More info on both distilleries can be found here:
From there, we take a short hop over to the beautiful highland town of Pitlochry where your options for some Scottish delicacies over lunch time are numerous - give the haggis a go!
You will then be guided through one of the most incredibly scenic roads in our country, of which there are many! You will take in the Queen's View over Loch Tummel and toward the Faerie Mountain of Schiehallion, and continuing onward through vast forests toward a view westward along Loch Tay, making for the highland village of Aberfeldy and Dewar's Distillery.
Dewar's Aberfeldy have the prestigious honour of producing one of the most recognisable, bestselling and awarded whiskies in the world. Once more, you will be able to tour and taste their delights, with a range of tasting options to suit your desires and budget, and you will be able to experience the contrast with Edradour or Blair Atholl.
More info on Dewar's can be found here:
Then, we journey south towards Edinburgh via more picturesque scenery through the Sma' Glen, stopping at your leisure along the way, and arriving back in Edinburgh for approximately 6:30 pm.
Back in Edinburgh we will drop you at your accommodation or elsewhere if you prefer.
We do not say farewell - rather, haste ye back!
